I’m planning lasik very soon, there are different Dr around of their repute hospitals with different equipments latest in technology. if so, why does some Dr at HYD cost more compared to Dr’s at chennai? patient cant differentiate re-usage of any consumables, they have to believe. Only thing is they should go by care & attention Dr gives and their repute. appreciate provided immediate response latest equipment, Dr of repute, as we all believe Eye vision is very very imp in ones life.

You are very correct. Doctors, like lawyers and chartered accountants, charge a fee which is based on their reputation. This reputation may be a correct one, or it may just be a perception. Some doctors even charge more because some patients think that “more expensive must mean better”.
If I were a patient, I would choose the doctor whose fee suited my budget, and who made me feel comfortable with the procedure. I would also look for people who have undergone LASIK, and are happy, and would choose the doctor they got operated by.

how much does it cost for LASIK treatment??…is it affordable?
#7 by samir on May 6, 2011 - 8:55 am
Quote
Of course, affordable is a relative thing. I don’t know where you stay, so it is also difficult to say. Generally, you should expect to pay in excess of 25000 Rs. for a decent treatment, and in the case of some centers in Metros, as much as Rs. 1 lakh.
Please see LASIK Cost India for more details.

what is the difference between with blade and without blade lasik. Do they cut the eye ball in with blade lasik?
How would be the treatment in Aravindha eye hospital, vijayawada.
#9 by samir on June 29, 2011 - 4:49 pm

In the blade variety of lasik, an instrument known as a microkeratome is used to create a cut on the cornea of the eye. This fashions a flap, and the flap is then lifted to perform corneal reshaping.
In the blade free variety, a laser is used to create the flap. This is safer and more precise than using a microkeratome. But for an experienced doctor, it may not be that relevant.
At the Aravindha Eye Hospital, it would have to be the blade variety of lasik

Hi
Iam planning for LASIK in next two to three weeks. I enquired about hospitals in Hyderabad. Many People suggested either L V Prasad or Maxivision.
1) LV Prasad Eye institute has two types of procedures . One costs 40 K for both eyes and other costs 70K for both eyes. They said Visumax FemtoSecond 500 KHz laser will be used for 70k type.
2) Maxivision vision has many types of lasers with cost for the surgery ranging from 20 K to 1,25000. They said they are the first ones in South Asia to have Technolas 217P Laser and it costs 1,25000.
Iam a bit confused now. Why there is thatmuch difference in costs? Visumax FemtoSecond is also a blade-free laser. Why there is almost 55K difference between Maxivision and LV Prasad?
In general which hospital is better among these two for LASIK.
Thanks,
Vishnu.

I guess this reply is too late. However, I have to say that Maxivision is a private hospital, while L.V. Prasad is an institute. Both have good technology. However, in Maxivision you would probably get better service, and the doctors are likely to be more experienced. Whether you ought to pay Rs. 55000/- for this difference is something you need to take a call on.

I had undergone lasik eye surgery exactly 55 days back…but still there is no complete clarity in my vision , far away objects look to be spreaded and looks clear if i close my eyes little.
My vision is far good when i wear glasses than at present.
I am worried of it.
I had undergone Excimer laser eye surgery.
I culdn’t distinguish whether there is some refractive error left or still my eyes are in healing process.
Please clarify and suggest precautions if any…

Normally the healing process should not continue beyond a month or so. Where did you undergo LASIK?

Not really. The Intralase is simply one type of femtosecond laser made of AMO. It was the earliest machine, and so has the widest installed base. There is a new model from AMO, called the iFS, which is much nicer.
There are other femtosecond lasers available, VisuMax, Femto-LDV, Wavelight. Some of these have many advantages over iFS.

In my opinion, once the VisuMax laser is installed at New Vision Laser Centers, it will be the best laser center in Hyderabad

LASIK is safe for most people. You should go to a center you have faith in.

1) Does it 100% corrective?
2) Is there any cases reported Complete Blindness due to LASIK?
3) Which Center and Doctors highly reputed for this surgery.
Hope, you suggestion makes me better to choose best one.
Never mind with money since it can be earned again but not eyes! Seems NO trials on this..

All of them are good hospitals. You should also consider New Vision Laser Centers at Basheerbagh. Maxi Vision, Medi Vision and New Vision are all focused on LASIK. So these may be more appropriate choices.

LASIK is not necessarily always perfect. In some cases, you may have a refractive error after the procedure, which is rare. It is extremely rare to have complete blindness after LASIK. It can only happen after an infection. That is hardly likely at a good center.
In hyderabad, I would recommend New Vision Laser Centers at Basheerbagh, which also has ReLEx SMILE technology
