It all depends. -13 is a high refractive error. However, if there is an error only in 1 eye, there is all the more reason to get laser refractive surgery done. In general, if your corneal thickness and your corneal radius of curvature are within limits, LASIK can be performed on your eye. However, you need to get a thorough eye consultation before a final comment. Pls. contact New Vision Laser Centers (kolkata@newvisionindia.com) for an eye consultation.

Would you please inform me about the cost of lasik operation at your institute according to my eye spectacle number(-6.00 of both eye, CYL=DSP)? For your information, i am from bangladesh & doing a job in a bank as front line officer(with computer all day) here. So, how many days it may requires to be fit for performing my job after getting lasik operation?
Thank you for your enquiry. This blog is meant as a general information resource on LASIK and we do not recommend individual doctors. However, LASIK in Kolkata should cost you around Rs. 25000-Rs.30000 for both eyes. You can contact Samir Desai (+91 9339868002 or Kolkata@newvisionindia.com) for any queries you may have.
You can be fit for work within a day after LASIK, if everything goes well, as it does in the vast majority of cases.
i want to ask u that i am having power in my around 7in both eyes and if i do laser operation then whether the power will not come again or it may come again.pls reply
Generally, after LASIK, it is unlikely that your refractive error will come back. In a small minority of patients, there may be a small portion of the error which will remain, which can be removed after an enhancement procedure. In some cases, there is a long term drift of the refractive error. This is rare, but it may occur, and would have occurred even if LASIK would not have been done. In such cases also, an enhancement is possible.
I have myopia which is -6.25 in one eye and -5 in the other. I am 26 but my power is still changing and getting worse. May I know the risks of getting blind associated with Lasik and how long the presciption should stay steady to do Lasik.
It is rare for the power to keep changing after the age of 21. If the change is only -0.25 or -0.5, that is not considered a real change.
Generally the power should stay stable for a year or so, to be able to undergo LASIK.
It would be very difficult to go blind after LASIK. Only an eye infection caused intraoperatively is likely to cause blindness after LASIK. The chances are rare (1 in 5000) to get an infection. And most infections can be easily controlled. In my opinion, this is not a worry you must have.
There is no clinic in Kolkata which does blade free LASIK. Intralase, VisuMax and Zeimer are all machines to do blade free LASIK, but no machine is available in Kolkata.
New Vision Laser Centers and Sushrut Eye Hospital have technology to make very thin (80 microns) flaps. This is the next best thing to blade free LASIK

Hi I am Sarfaraz Khan, age 23 yrs from Kolkata . My eye power for left is -2.5 and for right -1.5 (180 degree axis ). I occasionally use contact lense (cylindrical soft torrid for right eye). I wish to get rid of my specs and thus interested to know more about Lasik treatment (blade free)., its procedure , side effects probably in my case, Cost of the treatment and best clinic in kolkata or any other city best known for this purpose. Please contact me in my email : sarfarazbadsha@gmail.com or feel free to call me in 9748349745.
It would help to know which city you are in before I give a recommendation as to the doctor. In general with a refractive error of -2.5 D, you should expect a good result.
The best place in Kolkata to get LASIK done is New Vision Laser Centers, Near Gorky Sadan. In general, in Kolkata, you can expect to pay around Rs. 25000-35000 for the treatment of both eyes.
Hello,
I have power of
R -7.0 -1.25 x 020
L -10.5 -1.25 X 170
Is it possible for me to have lasik surgery.? Also how much does it cost? How long does it take to recover from surgery? My work involves a lot of travelling and so it would be good to know if airplane travel is also ok after the surgery?
In general, depending on corneal thickness, it is no problem to correct refractive errors such as yours. Usually, you can be back to work on the next day after surgery. You may have some irritation/itchiness in your eyes for a few weeks, but this is not particularly bothersome.
Airplane travel after LASIK is absolutely no problem.
I’m 20 and wanna apply for IAF. I’ve powers of -2.5 & -2.75D in my left and right eyes, respectively. What is the maximum recovery time from the effects of a LASIK Surgery? Can it cause side effects like color or night blindness? If performed (the bladed LASIK), would it leave me with any complications later?
Awaiting your response, it’d be very kind if you send a copy of your answer to my email.
Thanks in Advance,
Anuraag.

Actually, this is blog on LASIK and not cataract surgery.
Nevertheless, cataract surgery prices vary widely. Usually, doctors will charge differently, based on the lens you get implanted. Charges can vary from around Rs. 4000 at a small charitable setup, to around 25000-30000 with a good doctor. A premium lens (multifocal, accomodative, aspheric) may involve charges ranging from Rs. 35000 to Rs. 100000 depending on the lens and doctor.
It cannot cause color or night blindness. It cannot cure such vison difficulties either.
LASIK with Blade or without blade are both successful. It depends on your budget, and also the doctor you choose. LASIK without Blade has a slightly better safety profile.

I am 23 years old. In June 23, 2010 PRK (LASIK) surgery in my both eyes was done. Before PRK my power was R-15.50 and L-9.00. After some days of surgery I had clear vision in my Left eye. But it was decreasing. Now my power is R-6.50 and L-2.50 and I use glasses. Is there any correction can be taken? Can I use contact lenses?
My eye power is :
Spheriacal : -3.75
Cylindrical: -1.5
Axis: 90 degress
What is the possibility to get it corrected after the lasik surgery available in kolkata. I am located in Bangalore but want the surgery in kolkata.
Is it possible to get 100% correction after the lasik in my case? Please suggest me expect surgeon/hospital who can assure 100% results.
I am 43 yrs old and I have cylindrical vision. Just 3 months back I have been prescribed contact lenses and reading glasses. I find this quite cumbersome. Is it possible for me to go for Lasik surgery to rectify my vision ? Please help
